In atchay houses, the living room is, ironically, the deadest space of all. It is meant to be inhabited only on "special occasions" such as when receiving guests, it has the best furniture in the house, children are prevented from going there and messing it up, and it is kept as person-less as possible because its owners want it to look like a photo in a glossy magazine.
