Amateurs tend to conduct team-building programs as group dynamics programs, believing that their processes and objectives belong to the realm of social psychology. After all these years none of them have questioned why their trainers' games have had little or no impact on their audiences.
Team-building belongs to the realm of clinical psychology. It must address the individual self rather than the collective persona of a group, for addressing the latter will have only a shallow effect and, in the end, the participants will remember only the venue and the food and how much personal fun they had, and then go back to their workplace essentially unchanged.
