The bedroom I slept in when I was a little boy, in San Fernando, Pampanga, had a tall window that looked out onto the front yard of our ancestral house. The last thing I would see before going to sleep at night and the first thing I would see when I woke up before sunrise was the star apple tree outside, its branches and leaves forming patterns against the faintly glowing sky. I always saw actual pictures, including scenes from my future life, in those patterns. Because of this I have always believed that it is possible to scry on the patterns of branches and leaves of trees against the sky.
