Why isn't "Shared a link ON your Timeline" right?

I have always believed that "Shared a link TO your Timeline" is WRONG.

The correct, full phrase being "Shared a link WITH YOU ON your Timeline".

As a result I hear people say things like "Don't be selfish. Share your candy to your brother".
