Watched A Caribbean Mystery. At last, a DVD that is quite faithful to the original. Beautiful setting and a beautiful cast. I recall sitting at dinner by the sea with Rose Rara at Alona Beach Resort on Panglao Island, in Bohol, two years ago, and remarking that the place reminded me of the Agatha Christie novel. Everything in the production was quite Tennessee Williams especially in terms of character orchestration, but minus the extreme aberrations, including men in white suits.
I still have problems with scenes in which Miss Marple is knitting. She doesn't seem to hold the needles right, she knits too slowly (like one stitch per minute), and she holds up her work at chest-level as though to make sure that she is seen knitting in medium shots. A real knitter would have her work on her lap and knit with her face turned toward her work, meaning, of course, that it wouldn't photograph well at all.
In this episode Miss Marple is wearing a cameo, which reminded me that I have one, and I am glad that I found and rediscovered it after my viewing.
